Dr Sara Wyant joins NBAH after many years in small animal critical care medicine and practice ownership in Charlottesville. She graduated from the VA-MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998, and has enjoyed many leadership positions over the years within the veterinary profession in State, local and Alumni organizations. Amongst her awards are the Virginia Veterinarian of the Year from the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association for her extensive volunteer efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. From helping displaced animals on the streets of New Orleans to Co-Chairing the Virginia State’s Disaster Animal Care and Control Committee, she helped define a State Plan for Virginia to prevent a similar crisis from occurring in the future. Dr Wyant loves practicing veterinary medicine and surgery, and helping their families learn how to provide the best care for all their critters. In her spare time, Dr Wyant enjoys her lakefront home at Lake Anna with her husband John, and sharing their home with their feline rulers, Queen Emma, and the naughty Princes, Oliver and Simon. Both Dr Sara and their senior dog Puck(in the photo!) can often be found enjoying live music all over Central Va provided by her husband’s band, the John Wyant Band.
