Dr. Heather Trout grew up working on horse farms in Loudoun and Fauquier counties before heading to UVA where she studied Biology as a Jefferson and Echols Scholar.  She had always wanted to be a vet, but life threw a few curve balls that delayed her path. She worked in a prostate cancer research lab for 2 years and then taught high school Biology and Chemistry for five years before finally following her dream to attend vet school.  She earned her doctorate from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009 and practiced in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area before joining New Baltimore Animal Hospital in 2014.  She lives with her long-suffering spouse, two very entitled cats and a cuddlebug of a dog in southern Fauquier county.
